Gold Medal Sweater

Drum roll please....

I present my 2010 Olympic sweater. Completed just in time, it was 17 days of knitting when ever I had a moment of free time. With only a few periods of frustrating unkitting and then trying again, and only a couple nights of staying up past 2am.

Pictured here with my celebratory glass of wine, in leu of traveling to Toronto, Canada to attend the official Knitting Olympics Closing Ceremonies. I have to say, I am very proud of myself and my knitting abilities to knit under a deadline. And I believe this will make a very nice addition to the St. Rita's Parish Auction later this spring.

Moose Hunting in Coeur d'Alene

Well, hello everyone! Man, have the last few weeks been flying by! I cannot believe it is almost the end of winter quarter already! I finally got a break from my hectic schedule this past week, my elementary school had Friday and then Monday off for President's Day weekend! It was a nice break, that is for sure! Well with all the extra time you would think I would get a bunch of homework done...well you would have thought wrong! Just kidding, I did get a lot of homework done but I also went on a day trip to Coeur d'Alene with two of my roommates and my friend Andrea. We had an absolute blast! It was a rainy day, but we decided to walk down to the lake and walk on the boardwalk, but we got a little distracted when we found Mudge and Millie! Mudge is a moose and Millie is his friend who is a mouse. In total their are five bronze sculptures around downtown Coeur d'Alene and their is a children's book that goes along with it. Of course we had no idea that this existed so we started in the middle at sculpture number four and went out of order. But we had a blast hunting for the moose and taking hundreds of pictures! All in all the day turned out really well we found all the moose, window shopped in downtown, checked out the resort and ate a delicious meal! We have resolved to return to Coeur d'Alene in the spring and its warm enough to enjoy the lake a little more.

Knitting Olympics progress

The 2010 Knitting Olympics have been underway for a week now. The progress on my sweater is coming along nicely. I have completed the back of the sweater, the left side, and I am now working on the right side. The pattern calls for 2 button's, having just put in the first button hole, which might be a little too small. This weekend I will have to search for cute, but small buttons.

Spa Holiday

For my last holiday in Scotland before returning to the US, Lauren, Safina and I went to Pitlochry to go to the spa at the Scotland's Hotel. It was great fun for all of us. Once we got to Pitlochry we took a little drive and went out to Queen's view, and typically Scotland it rained on us. Really it snowed while we were eating out lunch in the car and then went back to rain when we walked out to the view, then stopped raining after we got back to the car. At the spa I got a massage and a facial, which I felt great after. We also did some swimming, lounging by the pool, enjoyed the jacuzzi and the sauna. Before leaving Pitlochry we took a two hour walk around Loch Faskally and through some of the Faskally woods, very beautiful. The drive home was interesting, we were not expecting snow when we took the scenic route home however we encountered a lot of snow, bit nerve racking for Safina who was driving since she does not have much experience in snow driving and none in that much. The snow on the trees looked like cotton stuck to them, which made the snow look really pretty. We made it home safely with no real problems. Over all we all had a fantastic time.

MSC in Physiotherapy

I very very pleased to announce that I have officially complete my course and have my MSC in Physiotherapy. I have worked very hard to get to this point and am so happy that I have finally achieved my goal. I would like to thank all of my friends and family who have helped to to survive the past few year, I love you all!!!!!!
I still have my US national exam to take but will be taking a bit of time to study for that and then I will be able to start working in the US. I will be flying back to the US on the 19th of Feb, and moving back in with my parents for a while until I get back on my feet living in the US, oh and have some money to actually be able to pay some bills. I am going to get to hold off on being a real big kid for a bit longer, thank goodness for parents who love me and are willing to support me in everything I do. Before coming home I am heading to Pitlochry for two days to go to the spa and relax getting massages and facials! Very excited for that. I am very sad to be leaving Scotland but a new chapter of my life is starting and it will be exciting to see what God has in store for me in the road ahead.

Knitting Olympics

I am very excited to be participating in this years Knitting Olympics.

The Knitting Olympics takes place every 4 years to coincide with the Winter Olympics. The idea is to knit an entire sweater during the 17 days in which the Olympics are taking place. The size & difficulty of the sweater is left up to the participant. All participants should cast on & begin their sweaters during the Opening Ceremonies (this Friday). Those who complete their sweaters before the Olympic Flame is extinguished earns a gold metal.

The Knitting Olympics was started by Canadian Stephanie Pearl-McPhee who writes wonderfully funny books on knitting and has a very interesting knitting blog.

I will be making a "Play Date Hoodie" from the Lion Brand Yarn website, in a recycled cotton yarn. And will be donating my completed sweater to the St. Rita's Auction this spring.
